ABOUT THE FILM
American Christian Todd Morehead travels to Israel to bear witness to the atrocities of October 7, 2023 and to explore the background and motivations behind the deadliest day in Jewish history since the Holocaust. The film presents the most comprehensive overview to date of the history of Gaza prior to October 7 through the voices of some of Israel’s most distinguished educators - Daniel Gordis, Einat Wilf, Ronen Bergman, and Miri Eisen. It also explores the ideological roots and stated aspirations of Hamas and radical Islamists and shows the traumatic events of October 7 through stories of survivors, first responders, a former hostage, and chilling video recorded by the terrorists themselves.
The film concludes with an inspiring tribute to the IDF, encouragement to future generations of Israelis, and a challenge to viewers from Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906–1945):
“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil:
God will not hold us guiltless.
Not to speak is to speak.
Not to act is to act.”
Content Advisory: The footage is graphic and distressing. Recommended for mature audiences.

“I've just finished watching OCTOBER 7, and I'm stunned, I can't move. You told the story of October 7 so well, so compassionately, and even redemptively - as challenging as that is. I am deeply, deeply grateful for all that you've invested to create this clear picture.”
Christy N., American Viewer
“This film must be seen. Hopefully eyes will open as well as hearts.”
Rob C., American Viewer
“OH-MY-WORD. I had no idea the extent of the devastation and depravity of the situation. This was a great and detailed documentation of what happened. I feel so much more informed and better able to process and engage in what I see on the news now. Well done! Thank you!”
Sofia Miryam, Israeli Viewer
“I ask everyone who has the mental and emotional capacity, please watch this...Please!”
VENUE & PARTNERSHIP
We are grateful for the cooperation and partnership of the Lyric Theatre leadership team, who share the heart behind this event. Opened in 1948, the Lyric was once the only place where Lexington’s Black community could watch a movie in the 1960s. Reopened in 2010, it remains a place of gathering and love.
We thank the Lyric for their boldness in standing with us at this time.
